On Nov. 30, our school’s National Junior Honor Society welcomed 17 new members from the 7th grade. One of the new inductees, Jillian S., shared her thoughts and experience in the induction ceremony.

Jillian said she and the other members had rehearsed in the cafeteria during their CAP period on the days leading up to the ceremony. They had all practiced cues to stand, sit, and walk to a certain place.

To apply, Jillian had to fill out a long application, such as listing some of the events and extracurriculars she had participated in. Jillian and the other inductees also had to complete an essay and get letters of recommendation from teachers.

Jillian said that the process had made her nervous at first, but when the ceremony was over she felt proud, relieved, and a sense of accomplishment. She is excited to be in a group that is dedicated to help their school and community.

Jillian said that she is looking forward to doing fun service projects and trips, and to being able to help out the community and school more as part of the National Junior Honor Society.

For a few years, our school has been involved in the National Junior Honor Society program.

We are all very proud of the new inductees for all of their hard work.
