On Wednesday, Nov. 29, 12 students ranging from 7th to 8th grade got inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. They were welcomed as they achieved a strict 95 G.P.A through their years in Attales.

The students who got inducted were Zidane A., Ahmed C., Alaina G., Miley L., Rose M., Alexandra M., Michael N., Ayesha R., Aubrie S., Luna T., Onalee W., and Victoria W.

All these students showed qualities of scholarship, leadership, character, and service.

Mrs. Liepe, who is the adviser of the National Junior Honor Society, said that the ceremony is to induct students, or to welcome students to the NJHS.

Mrs. Liepe continued to say, “It is our 5th year in this ceremony at the school.”

She added, “Mr.Burns had the vision or idea to do this with the help of our P.T.O. The former Absecon Education Foundation was able to pay or finance the starting cost.”

Here are some tips on how you can join NJHS

  • If you are a reader who is in 5th, 6th or even in 7th grade keep your grades up. N.J.H.S teaches you what the criteria of scholarship is and that involves education. Throughout your life you will learn, no matter if you are learning little facts everyday.
  • If you help others having trouble this shows the criteria of leadership.
  • Helping a classmate or anyone also shows good character. This will help you one day if you help someone-meaning those good deeds will come back to you.
  • Be kind to teachers, classmates and don’t get in trouble. As you behave well in class, your character would invoke you to do good in the community.
  • As a part of the criteria of service, you will need good service such as doing any school activity. The Attales Middle School has activities such as field hockey, cross country, basketball, track and field, newspaper club, drama, band, and much more. Service is not only looked at in NJHS, you will need to put what you contributed in your high school resume based on school related activities.
  • Service can also include helping religious events, helping the community and much more.
